Dr. Khalid Al Muti, MD, is the Section Head for Cardiac Electrophysiology in the Heart and Vascular Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Al Muti was a Staff Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at the University Of Cincinnati Medical Center, Cincinnati, Ohio. He also served as Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Cincinnati and as Director of Electrophysiology Services at West Chester Hospital. A native of Palestine, Dr. Al Muti moved to the United States to pursue his college and professional studies, starting his undergraduate work at the University of California, Berkeley, followed by a degree in Pharmacy with honors from the University of Texas, Austin. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York, followed by specialty training in Internal Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York City. This was followed by training in Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation at Columbia University Medical Center, New York City. He completed further training in Cardiovascular Disease at the Albert Einstein Medical Center and in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at the Lankenau Medical Center, both in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Al Muti’s research has been focused on the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disturbances. This includes improving the safety and efficacy of cardiac ablation procedures, prevention of sudden cardiac death, prevention of stroke and related conditions, novel approaches to ablation of atrial fibrillation and ventricular arrhythmias, pharmacologic management of atrial fibrillation with anti-arrhythmic drugs and novel approaches to implantation of biventricular pacing devices. He has authored multiple articles and textbook chapters on these and other related topics. Dr. Al Muti is a Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society (FHRS) and the American College of Cardiology (FACC).
